'I' iSi,l 'hal 1 mf l!hkl'? Greg Taylor A.S.B. President Hrtsuvn H :'tl.l!HlsnJg.QQ 4 . G 5 num: ww fi gum: The student government has been under the leadership of Greg Taylor this year. He strove for a more responsive student body and a closer relationship .with the administration. 'tThis past year the student body officers have set two main objectives. For themselves, first, to serve the students of Mercer Island High School and second, to disprove the popular misconception that student government is a farce. Throughout the year we have made numerous attempts to meet these objectives. More meaning and purpose are given to the student council through the efforts of the executive council. We have tried to make the new students feel welcome at ourlschool by way of sophomore orientation and the first day program for new juniors and seniors. School exchanges, inter-high council, assemblies and student forum were some other activities. Our goal here was to bring the student out of his shell and closer to the world around him. We also tried to find answersto his small problems, as they too play a part in every studentls life. As always expected, some of the projects were possibly not successful, yet, on the whole, student government has played an important role this year at Mercer lslandfi With the assistance of his other officers, Katie Thompson, secretary, Steve Hawes, business manager, Mark Schmidt, parliamentarian and Sean Sheehan, vice president, Greg sought to meet problems and solve them. tudent government enhances school exchan eg Student council in action.
