During the past several years, MIHS has upheld a stand- ard of being one of the best high schools in the state of Washington. The school did not become one of the best by itself, its achievement was due to the high quality of its administration and students throughout the years. Mr. Lynden Watts has been principal of MIHS for the past three years and was vice-principal previously for three years. He has seen our school change in many ways. It has not only increased in size, but also in enthusiasm of the students. The addition of several new teachers to this year's faculty has also added new outlooks which make a better school and has raised the quality of education with which each student is invested. Planning for a further education, students were aided by counselors in choosing a college and career to suit their tastes. With the counselors, each student was encouraged to strive for the goal he wished to meet. Each teacher and adminstrator is trying to prepare us for the future as thor- oughly as possible. To do this, MIHS varies its curriculum each year to suit the needs of each student and the de- mands and pressures of the present time. This year, more emphasis has been placed upon team teaching than ever before. Language arts department con- tinued the junior English team teaching and the senior humanities block for the second year. The history depart- ment began its first team teaching system for juniors, and Harvard Physics was introduced as a more modern ap- proach to physics. The business classes stressed achieve- ment, and physical education continued to push students to strive for the best in skills. The MIHS curriculum has been varied just enough to suit each student and the mod- ern demands for education. Administrators encoura e creativity, Mr. Lynden M. Watts, Principal Mr, George Bussell, Vice-Principal Mr. Robert Shipp, Vice-Principal
