.l. V. coaches, Fred Knapp and Tom Hoskin, went over one of the seasonis plays. Mike Smith dragged tacklers down field. 7 S, C The Mercer defense held the Vikings to only 7 points. JV Football Mercer Island's powerful junior varsity football team finished a successful and hard fought season with a 5 win-2 loss record. Under the watchful eyes of Coach Hoskins and Coach Knapp, the team, consisting mainly of sophomores, worked to accomplish this winning season. Though the team got off to a poor start, losing to Redmond 12-20, it came on strong the following week to smother Bellevue 26-13. The next game was not decided until late in the game but finally MI came out on top over Inglemoor 27- ' 25. After this close one the team dropped its second game, ' this one to Issaquah 13-19. Following this defeat the fires were lit and the team ran away with victories in the final Junior Varsity Football Team: three games beating Bothell 26-7, Newport 14--6, and fin- ishing off with a 20-3 victory against Sammamish. ffronl rowl ,l.
