Since we were a class of great possibilities 1940 - THE PILOT - 1941 SOPHOMORE CLASS HISTORY - All things must have a beginningg and the history of the class of l9M3 may be said to begin at the crossroads. For, while three of the thirty-nine of our class lived in town, twelve times that number lived on farms, and met the bus with something akin to dread in their hearts on that fair August day which marked the beginning of our high school career. We were welcomed by a friendly faculty and were with malicious glee by those who had a taste for blood All ambitions for initiating us came to naught to the bitter disappointment of the Sophomores and t comfiture of most of the Freshmen Two social affairs were held during the year quainted party November 23, and a Valentine party Fe b received Freshman however the dis get ac ruary 9 and virtues we each d stinguished ourselves in some special way The weeks flew bv until we had reached the first milestone in our high school career And uddenly we were Sophomores' No longer were we like transplanted plants blown by the wind The skies were so much bluer and the sun hone so warmly upon us that we should have been very happy but for the loss of eight members of those who had started with us To offset the loss, however came two more A new band of youths took our old place and remembering our own gre nness and realizing our unawarenes of lt we Sym pathized and tried to be helpful One evening in October we drove south of town and held a Weiner and marshmallow roast And in February we began to think of having another party I think it must have been not only our loyalty to our class but e pecially our loyalty to our country that Jrompted us to celeorate the birthday of the 'Father of our Gountryu The party was held at the school house Monday night February 17 Decorations were in red keeping with the holiday Refreshments consisting of sand wiches, salad cake and pop were served And now as the second milestone comes to view we look oack over the way honing to hold all the glad memories all the learninvs JG hav acquired and all the haozg chareoterist ics we have develooec during the year We shall need them for we have had a glimpse of that vast domain VhlCh lies before us the domain which has beer ruled over so capably and so royally bv the Juniors of l9Ul rresident Corine N att, Vice President leotha Keeton, bee and Treas Levis maoG1rdner Glass Editor Betty Robinson, Class Sponsor Mis Story . . . . . . . , 0 7 . .
