l9LO THE PILOT 1941 STNIOR CLASS HISTORY On the thlrtv f rst day of August 1H UBYU forty four tlmld Freshmen mounted the steps of the er er Hlgh School buwldlng to start their four years of fun and study Soon after school started the class was 1n1t1ated vltn everyone havlng fun over t After a Wee of sport We became full flGQg6d members the Hign School and settled down to our routlne of work e selected M138 Hunt as our sponsor, Juanlta mclntosh as presw dent PhV1llS nclaf for vrce Dresldent, and Noel Holmes as sec retary and treasurer Our year went off very well wlth the few ups and downs of school llfe Our actlv tles lncluded a thea tre p rty, a class oartv, and a p1cn1c We gave 2 assembly prograr durlng the year On August 29 1D MESH we were back agaln but thls t1me as Sophomores We had an enrollment of forty one We had lost a few old members but nad also galned a few new ones Mr AC Glaran was selected as our class sponsor Gwendolene moore as preswoent Leaola Porter as v1ce presrdent Gerald Goodln as secretary and treasurer Thrs ear several of the members recelved honors Jlmmv Weavers hldon ard ell, and Darwrn Wells recelved basket Dall most popular boy and glrl rn hlgh school, Gwendolene Moore was annual Queen, and s veral of the class Won metals 1D the decla matron conte t We started as Junlo s on August 28 1D 39 Wlth an rollment of only 32 members But We were stlll the largest class rn school and were consoled wrth the thought that many of those who had left our school were attendrng nelghborlng schools We elected Mr MoGlaran agarn for our sponsor and Gvendolene moore served her second term as presldent Rachel Hodges was elected v1ce nresldent and Gerald Goodrn as secre tary and treasurer agaln We were entertalned early 1n the year by Mr and Mrs mc Claran Several members of the class presented a one act play, Not Such a Goose', 1n assembly and we presented a three ac plav, Deacon Duobs , for the publlc Two members of our class attended the State Student Assembly They were Lorene Humph and L6W1S Thomas We started our Senlor year wlth an enrollment of twenty elght but two more entered the class We are the largest 'and we're sure the most d1gU1flSdD class ever to graduate from mercer H gh School For officers thrs year we agarn chose mr cOlaran as sponsor Margaret Puffer as presldent Tellle GlbSOD as v1ce oresldent and L6WlS Thomas as secretary and treasurer Before cold Weather the class entertalned the teachers Wlth a WplHGI roast After GhI1Stm8S we d1d very llttle except attend cla ses untll March 3, when we had a SGU1OI party Most n L ' ' L . -1 in ' .
