Slater Jr.-Sr. Student Council The Council planned for a Winter Carnival in November. However, the project collasped. The Council then organized a Christmas Ball which was a success. It was held on December 23, 1968. A student from Grove City exchanged a day with a member of our Student Council for observations. In February 1969, the Junior High Council sponsored the annual magazine drive for the seventh and eighth grades. From the profits of the sale a dance was held for the salesmen. To keep the school informed, the minutes of each meeting were read to the student body the morning after the meeting. Council Christmas Ball 22

The Hoofbeats staff, under the direction of Miss Loretta McConnell, advisor, and Jo Vogan, editor-in-chief, tried to see to it that the school news was received by the student body. To help them understand the newspaper and its operation better, the reporters and other interested members took a field trip to the New Castle News in New Castle, Pennsylvania in November. 21
