There is a haven where storm-tossed souls may Q0 You call it death - we, immortality. Farewell, dear voyageur - 'twill not be long. Your work is done - now may peace rest with thee. Your kindly thoughts and deeds - they will live on. This is not death - 'tis immortality. - Unknown MRS. CLYDE WALKER In the fall of 1945 there came to our high school a young language teacher whose love of learning, high standards of conduct, and sincere belief in unselfish service endeared her to the faculty, the student body, and the community. The profound sorrow occasioned by her early death is brightened by the knowledge that her influence can never die. We, the students, who mourn her loss both as a teacher and as a friend, express our deep appreciation for her valued contribu- tions to our school. We will forever cherish her memory. 4 Adminisfrufivu 1 5 ,,f.m,:, 5 f M, 95 Q5 Xen, ,aisgv fi g Q, ,Q '. Karen Kloos explains our American heritage to Robin Crossley. Roberta Crawfo'rd checks out a book for Bobby. An eleven Thousand mile iourney brought Robin Crossley from her home in Palmerston North, New Zealand, to Mercer, Pennsyl- vania, last September. As Mercer High School's first American Field Service student, she has more than fulfilled the dreams and hopes of those who worked so hard to bring this program in International Friendship to our community. She has brought to us a vivid picture of life in her own beautiful country. She has been an ambassador of good will for Mercer High, as well as New Zealand, in the many appearances she has made before church, civic, and school groups here and in the surrounding area. ln recognition of her contributions of high scholastic standards and qualities of leadership and character, she was elected to the Mercer Chapter of the National Honor Society.
