Coronatzon At 11 30 p m Cctober lZ 1950 Darvm F1scher and Alma Gessele were crowned carmval Klng and Queen of 1950 The queen was att1red m a p1nk sheer formal Her attendants Dons Jorgenson and Glorxs Ketterlmg wore blue and pxnk formals respectxvely The k1ng's attendants were Mllbert Strobel and Gene S1nger As M1ss June Berge played the Coronatxon March Chrxst Helm Jr and Robert Sackman unrolled a whxte carpet for the process1onal wh1ch was led by Luella Schell queen of 1949 followed by Paul Wanner bearmng the kxng s crown Next ln hne were the royal couple and therr attendants The lung and queen were seated on the stage wxth the attendants standxng 1n their respective places Wlth fxttlng words Luella Schell removed the crown from her head and crowned Alma Gessele queen of the Mercer school for 1950 and 1951 She also crowned Darvxn Fischer as king The lung and queen expressed thexr thanks and appreclatxon for the honors bestow ed on them As the Coronatlon March contmued the royal party receeded from the stage The queen s g1ft mcluded a pm and earr1ng set from the school and a rh1nestone bracelet from Luella Schell former queen The kxng recezved a bxllfold and the attendants each a box of candy from the school The total recempts m the contest were S35 85 Jumor Class Play December 6 1950 SOUND YOUR HORN by Howard Reed Druscxlla Phyllls Etta Lamb Mrs Van Dyke Homer Bxrd Chrxstxne Elllot Dxane Webster Mrs Beasley Theodore Webster Elaxne Hextzmann Dorxs Makeeff Carol Dxede Glorzs Ketterlxng Mxlbert Strobel Dorxs Jorgenson Peggy Just Margaret Sprout Denms Fmbelstad SUMMARY OF PLOT Whether you've hxtchhlked or learned the hxghway from behmd the wheel of the latest sports model you ll delxght xn thxs play of Chrxstme s refreshment stand lt s full of catchy comedy Sometxme It s Homer Bud blunderxng after Etta sometzmes 1t's Phylhs and Druscxlla drmklng thelr way through the l1st of soda pop who touch the funny bone But whoever It is there's always laughter The play offers contrasting roles ln those of Mr Angus and Mrs Beasley the one sauve and successful the other blundenng and xnefhczent Chrxstlne rented the land for her stand from Mrs Van Dyke's agent and when Mrs Van Dyke llnwllllngly sets out to repudxate the lease and dlspossess Chrlstxne she flnds out that she has a person to reckon wlth entirely dxf ferent from the wealth worsh1pp1ng group to whxch she has been accustomed Chrlstlne dxscovers unexpected allxes xn the mece and nephew of Mrs Van Dyke whnle the play romps through excztmg moments of romance and comedy to an end that IS just rlght 29 I : . . , , ' ' - 1 , . . . .
