W' ' 1 0 A Q ' ' I 1 'I x 3' Upper Grades The f1rst day of school found our room wxth an enrollment of mneteen pup1ls Four ln grade s1x one ln grade seven and fourteen ln the exghth grade We are all pleased wxth the appearance of our room thxs year The floors were sanded and fxmshed we have new bulletm boards new pencll sharpener and perhaps the most apprecxated of all some beautxful new desks Everythxng has added to the cheerfulness of our room The s1xth seventh and exghth grade geography classes are enjoyxng the1r new geography books we got th1s year A Young C1t1zenshxp League was organxzed ln our room The offxcers for the first semester were Presxdent Arlo Slnger Vxce Presxdent Charles Kline Secretary Ellan Hxnsz Treasurer Bxlly Wxse The ofizcers elected forthe second semester were Presxdent Verdelle Braun Vlce Presxdent Rodney Pederson Secretary Ella Marxe Schell Treasurer Bxlly Wxse We are hopmg that we can put on some form of entertarnment to ralse money At Chrxstmas we packed a box for the Red Cross to be sent as a gxft to a boy ID a fore1gn country We are trylng to help wlth the paper dr1ve All paper put lnto the basket 15 to flat and folded so our Jamtor can store xt untxl a truck comes to get xt For Valentme's Day we made a p1n cushxon for our mothers We were quxte sur Frlday IS Current Events day 1n our room The geography perxods are used to dxscuss the latest happemngs 1n Korea and Congress and any other news of rmportance We have trxed workmng out varxous projects 1n our classes th1s year The s1xth grade hlstory class made a dzsplay showxng the ancxent or1g1n and the c1v1l1zat1on whxch contrlbuted vanous devxces used ln modern l1v1ng The exghth grade Our State class made some excellent physzcal maps of North Dakota They also made a raxlroad map of North Dakota The seventh and ezghth grade geography class made a mural showmg the steps the progress of mdustry The sxxth grade has rnade maps of each country of whxch they have been study1ng We have had three partxes thzs year One was held 1n the evemng ln the gym naslum 1n November A Chrlstmas party was held December twenty thxrd at whxch games were played and grfts exchanged For our Valentxne party we went outdoors and played fox and goose then we came an and exchanged Valentlnes We are au enjoyxng the new books we were able to buy from the Carmval funds Charts m the back of the room have permltted us to watch our progress xn arxthmetxc and spellmg Some charts are well fxlled wxth hundreds The entxre room took part m the Chrxstmas program Chrxstmas Around the World Many of us played leadxng parts ln dEPlCt1l'l8 the Chrzstmas customs zn van ous lands ln looklng forward to the remamder of the year we fully realxze our fate revxew and state examxnatxons the last week 1n May That means plenty of work from now on 17 . . . i . . be prised at the neat sewing so many of our boys as well as girls were able to do.
