Mr. Earl Dean President P.T.A. OjjfjlMM President - Mr. Earl Dean Vice-President - Mr. Ezra Jones Secretary - Mrs. Charles Hatcher Treasurer - Mrs. J. C. Woodard The Mercer P.T.A. was organized three years ago. We are quite grateful for all they have done for the school since then. This year the Mercer P.T.A. realized a profit of $900 from the annual Fall Festival. This is a project in which the parents, students, and teachers work cooperatively to make money for the school. This year, 1961- 62, is a banner year, in that many things were purchased that were badly needed. The P.T.A. was able to help pay for a new refrigerator for the cafeteria and money was set aside to buy ditto paper for the use of stu- dents and teachers. Money was appropriated by the P.T.A. for flats which will greatly improve the stage when completed. The music department needs a new piano and the P. T. A. has agreed to pay half of the cost. Miller, Jr. Vocational agriculture teacher specializing in adult work. One phase of our high school often overlooked is that of adult education. Mr. Miller teaches a class of adult farmers from Salvisa, McAfee, Shakertown, and Cornishville. Also in addition to their regular high school classes, Mr. Howard Whitehead has a night class of adult farmers from Rose Hill, and Mr. George Brooks has a night class of young farmers. The purpose is to give instruction in farming that meets the needs of adult farmers, so they may become established in farming and may improve their proficiency in farming. In most cases, this activity will be to im- prove what has already been established. When you ate old and gray and full of sleep, And nodding by the fire, take down this book, And slowly read and dream”-- of days gone by, Those happy golden days at Mercer County High. We, the annual staff, have presented this annual with the hope that it may hold fond memories of your school life, your faithful friends and devoted teachers. As you go out to new and wider horizons, our thoughts and best wishes go with you. EMou- Cwk 'IwJmi Cotm GuUoti AmmaI StaH Editor .... Co-editor . . . Sports Editor . . Art Editor . . .
