Foreword In compiling the 1968-69 Bengal, the Bengal staff kept one thing in mind-the students of Mercedes High School. It was with this goal that we attempted to record for you everything that happened at Mercedes High during the 1968-69 school year. Many things happened-some were happy and some were sad. They form, nevertheless, part of our school year. As you look through the yearbook, you will find a little of everything and even a part of yourself. In the years to come, when you pick up the 1968-69 Bengal, you will find yourself reliving that 'Wonderful Year . THE BENGAL STAFF

Salutes Mr. Dale Hatley In deciding upon the dedication, the Bengal Staff was faced with one question: What two faces at Mercedes High School most personify the school and the spirit that sustains it. We didn't have to look far for the answer. Mrs. Livia Tidwell, teacher and pep squad director, is a woman whose face is familiar to all of us. So is Mr. Dale Hatley's, athletic director and coach. We have seen these two faces reflect many moods. We have seen elation there, the elation that comes with a hard-earned victory. We have seen the disappointment of defeat. We have seen leadership and good sportsmanship, backed by the determination to come out victorious. And always we have seen there a true love for Mercedes High and its TIGERS.
