SENIORS OF '68 SET GOOD EXAMPLES In the fall of '67, about 136 students succeed in becoming the leaders of Mercedes High School. Pre- pared to face the future, the distinguished seniors met their last ye a r with brighter hopes. Everything they did was important because it served as an example for the three other classes. Throughout the years they participated in many school activities. They held most of the offices in most of the clubs. ln previous years they cooperated with other upperclassmen in making Mercedes High abetter school. As they looked back through their school life they knew that they had accomplished a great deal. By taking business courses many Seniors were pre- pared to go into the business world. While some did not take any business courses, they will undoubtedly go on to college. Taking college admission tests and applying for the different colleges are among the things they had to do. But regardless of all the hard work in- volved, the C lass of '68 managed to set a good ex- ample for all the underclassmen to follow when their turn came to be the leaders of MHS. 25 ,. Even though the team won only one game their spirit con- tinued to be high throughout the season. The Student Body showed the Tigers that they were behind them by yelling for them at the Pep Ral- lies and supporting them at the games. The Tiger's first game was against the Edinburg Bobcats. However, the Bobcats proved to be too much for the Fighting Tigers ofM.H.S. The Tigers went down in defeat by a score of 32-0. Victory yelled the crowd and a VICTORY it was as the Tigers snowed the Brownsville Eagles by a score of 21-14. After defeating a 4A school the Tigers lost 9 of their district's games, apparently caused by injuries of three of their starters No. 22, No. ll, and No. 64. The answ ers varied widely from living on the moon to raising a family in dear old Mercedes. They all seem to want a new gym, cafeteria, and various other additions for our new school. Most of the 1968 Seniors will either be married by 1972 or will be finishing their college education. The majority of them thought that the world will be in the same situation as it is today. Well, whatever the world situ- ation will be in 1972, the graduating Class of '68 will strive to make this world a better place to live. Where do you think you will be in 1972? Do you think you will be married by 1972? In what situation do you think the world will be in The four questions which they were asked are: Keith Billings By 1972 l'll be taking my laboratory training in a certified ASCPhospital. I don't think that I will be married by 1972. The world will be in the same type of situation as it is now. I'd like to see more school spirit in Mercedes High School. 1972? It all depends on how things go in the future. The world will be in the same situation - war! MHS will change by 1972 because of changing times. Bebe Crooks Probably by 1972 I will be married, but I have no idea where I will be. By 1972 there will not be any middle class only the rich, upper class and the low- er, poorer class.
