In later years, may it be a pleasant reminder of the happy days Spent at Mercedes High School, your Alma Mater. You have before you now the product of the months of hard, united work. Our staff has attempted to picture life on the campus as it really is and events as they have truly occurred. Whether the staff and I have succeeded in making this Bengal a living record of 1959 is up to you--and you alone--to decide. .J MR. HERMAN LANG DEDICATION Once in a life time there is a person who merits and deserves tribute forservice to an insti- tution--Mercedes Independent School District--for a period of twenty-eight years. Too often We fail to recognize the diligence, competence, and cooperation of those with whom. we are as- sociated so closely. It is with a heart full of thanks that this volume of The Bengal is dedicated to a beloved friend who will remain in the hearts of all--Mr. Herman Lang. 5 JH- J-' :Nil 'W 59 WGIUOIUQIM purizfeff ?!UlIl5t0ll R P table nt Contents tm E ssenttels B eetthene E Iements tl eeeestttes G tennd LUnttt H ettvtttes L ehnters T' e - Hnnnted Halt -D mast School Board I' ' -l .
