MERLE BLANKENSHIP Sponsor The Student Council has participated in many activities. Several of them follow, We sponsored the March of Dimes Campaign, Winners were 7th graders-Elma Diaz and Oscar I-Iinojosa. We composed standard amendments for the Spotlight Contest, putting it before the student body for vote. The Student Council and Senior class went together and sponsored Slave Day. We have attended District Meetings and have been in charge of several discussion groups. FUTURE FARMERS This was one of the best years for the Mercedes F.F.A. Chapter. The C hapt e r started at the first of the year with two calves.About the second six weeks the city donated the Chapter an eight acre block of land, The first crop that was planted was red top cane. The Chapter helped raise money for the March of Dimes and had a booth at the Hallo- ween Carnival, The Chapter then received a tractor, planter, cultivator, disk, etc. The Father and Son Banquet, held in May, was agreat success.
