C. 5. F. SENIUHS The constitution of the California Scholarship Federation was ratified on October 15, 1921. However, the Merced Chapter was not established until 1945. lts membership has steadily increased. To become or remain a part of the California Scholarship Federation, a school must be accredited by the University of California. The California Scholarship Federation believes in democracy at its finest. It encour- ages all students to develop their talents and abilities to the utmost and to accept in full rights and obligations of a true citizen. Its goal is Scholarship for Service. The purpose of this organization is to foster a higher standard of scholarship and broader ideals of serv- ice on the part of the students. A minumum of ten points is required for membership, two points of which can be made through extra-curricular activities. A grade of A counts three points and a grade of B one point. A failure in any subject bars a student from membership for the succeeding semester. At the time of graduation the chapter seal is embossed upon the diploma or the college transcript of the senior member. BACK ROYV: L. Applegate. A. Arnett, B. Wisner. I. Steinhauer. S. Herb. R.
