Throughout these months we have studied well, played hard, and laughed often, un- touched by the terror and untold sorrow spreading through other lands. VVe are free, strong, and se- cure in our powerful democracy. Yet we realize that now, as never before, we should gravely con- sider our American ideals. It is with this in mind that We devote the division pages of our book to the stirring words and famous symbols which form our American heritage. We point to them with pride and with a lasting devotion to the country that has preserved them for us.
