Merced Union High School can be proud of operating one of the largest bus transportation systems in the State. With distant points at Lingard, E1 Nido, Atwater, Winton, and Merced Falls, our bus transportation covers a radius of twenty-five miles. Approximately 550 students are given free transportation to and from school over a route of 750 miles a day, with an operating cost of about fifteen cents a mile. In order to become a bus driver, a student must be eighteen years of age and have successfully passed the following tests: A strict written and prac- tical driving examination given by the State Highway Patrol and a complete physical examination given by a physician. Bus repairs are in a large part taken care of by advanced students in our ow11 auto shop. This work is done under the direction of Frank Silva, Jr., and under the supervision of Mr. Fred Robles, our Shop instructor. As our school year draws to a close, we are proud of keeping a perfect record-no accidents. -TONY FAGUNDES Driver Districts or Colonies Bus No. Ogle Robinson . .
