Mr. Herman A. Tennant Principal Since its beginning in 1935. Mr. Tennant has witnessed the development and growth of Wellington C. Mepham High School. As a mathematics teacher and a member of the district’s original teaching staff, he began a record of inspiring, versatile, and admirable service that stands today as a living symbol of devotion to excellence in education. As a student attending Hobart College and later New York University, Mr. Tennant decided to teach mathematics on the high school level here at Mepham. In 1954, he became principal of the new Merrick Avenue Jr. High School. Four years later he moved back to Mepham and into the office of this school's chief executive. 22
