Herman A. Tennant The most valuable asset that any graduating class possesses is a determined, dedicated and inspiring high school principal. Mr. Herman Tennant, principal of Mepham High School, has long been considered an outstanding leader of youth in this community. Mr. Tennant’s exceptional success as an administrator may well be attributed to his extensive experience. After coming to District Number Three in 1935, Mr. Tennant became chairman of the Mathematics Department. During World War II he served as assistant principal of Mepham for two and a half years and was, for several years, principal of Merrick Avenue Junior High. Gerald E. of Education Guide Our School Policy. Dr. Julius C. Braun Mr. Julius C. Braun, chief administrator of the district, is invested with the responsibility of providing for the students’ welfare. His principal concern is the preparation of the students for success in their future endeavors. As Supervising Principal of the District, Mr. Braun faces the difficult task of directing the activities and formulating the policies of the junior and senior high schools of our district. Mr. Braun, a native of Buffalo, New York, is certainly well qualified to assume his varied responsibilities. A graduate of the University of BulTalo, Mr. Braun received his doctorate from Columbia University. Because of his association with students as a classroom teacher, Mr. Braun is keenly aware of youth’s problems. His position as superintendent of schools in western New York gave him considerable experience in the field of school administration. Consequently, the education of 7200 students has been entrusted to a man well qualified to meet all the needs of each student as an individual. Since the United States is founded on a democratic system of government by the people and for the people, we the people must be prepared to meet the challenge of the future and to deal capably with it. We, therefore, owe much gratitude to Mr. Braun, who has given us the opportunity to obtain this necessary training to become better citizens. 13

District Staff The high standards and achievements of which Mepham is so proud owe much of their success to the dedicated efforts of our district staff. Both administrative assistants, Mr. Eugene Hallen-back and Dr. Frederick Stunt, are former Mepham principals. Other members of the staff include Miss Agnes J. Bcrwind, director of instruction and curri- culum, Mr. Harold McCourt, director ol Pupil Personnel Services, and Mr. Ralph K. Alger, supervisor of English. We certainly owe a debt of thanks to the district staff for its tireless work, which makes possible the continued excellence of achievement in our district. Mr. Ralph K. Alger Miss Agnes J.
