Extra-curricular activities formed a rich backdrop to our years at Mepham. Classroom subject matter was not the boundary of our high school learning experiences. Another di- mension was added by the clubs and organizations that met after class hours. The electric excitement of an October football game, the rushing of stag editors to meet final dead- lines, the calling of an organization to order - these are the footsteps to the future that linger in our memo- ries as treasured high-points of our high school career. These activities, although pleas- urable diversions, were solid prepa- rations for a fruitful and well- rounded life. They provided rich soil in which healthy and lasting interests could take root and flower into the avocations or perhaps even profes- sions of our adulthood. The future scientist may have gained his start from a science project. Tomorrow's statesman may have spoken before the student body. A future journalist may have written his first scoop. Yes, these are the footsteps which lead to the future. Page twenty-,four
