The purpose of this program was to inform the student body as to the meaning and qualifications of the society. The program also in- cluded the recognition of five new senior members, Georgia Vires, Marlene Brallier, Janet Goshert, Cynthia Ellsworth, and Becky McDaniel. Following the program all senior members were given the opportunity to apply for National Honor Society scholarships. The chapter planned and sponsored a Courtesy Week campaign in May. The chapter collaborated with the Student Council and FTA in conducting a Teachers Appreciation Day. The highlight of the year was the annual banquet May 2. The program included the induction of new members and the installation of officers for next year. The speaker was Lawrence Castaldi of Midwest Spring Com- pany. The officers this year were Ken Romine, president; Garry Weidner, vice-president; Donna Ring, secretary; Mike Orcutt, treasurer; Mrs. Rush, sponsor. 3 Student Council Janis Hoffer, Garry Weidner, Jerry Zolman, Kathy Boggs, Diane Flenar, Sue Castellanos, Mike Orcutt, Dennis Feldman, Rex Bowser, Barbara Decker, Steve Tucker, Salvadore Murcia, Dennis Meyer, Danny Romine, Mr. Mason, sponsor. The student council serves as the liaison factor between the student body and faculty. It is the voice of the students, while seeking advice and giving suggestions in the hope of helping the administration provide the best possible educational atmosphere. Members of the council took advantage of the annual state conven- tion of student councils at North Central High School, Indianapolis. Mike Orcutt, president, was honored to be selected as discussion lead- er for the convention. This year the council has been active in many ways. It has assum- ed responsibility in helping to keep a lively social program in operation. To highlight this social progress the council presented its annual vari- ety program Blast which proved to be just that. The crowning achievement of the year is the planned and probable acquisition of a foreign exchange student for next year and the possi- bility of a Mentone student traveling abroad this summer. 4 Indiana University Representatives Marlene Brallier Journalism School Cynthia Ellsworth Journalism School Cynthia Ellsworth and Georgia Vires Girls’ State Ken Romine Boys’ State Highest Scholastic Honors Valedictorian Salutatorian Gold M James Huffman Ken Romine Phyllis Hurd, Michael Orcutt Warsaw Times—Union Annual Awards English Latin Becky McDaniel Kathy Boggs Mathematics Dan Romine DAR Award Georgia Vires Science Social Studies Daniel Murcia Ted Shoemaker Betty Crocker Award Marlene Brallier 6 ADMINISTRATION Administration Tippecanoe Valley School Corporation BOARD OF EDUCATION Ralph Davis, Eldon Cumberland, Gale Creighton, Edward Bucher, Robert M.
