Rogers, D. Kuhn, B. Decker, M. Brallier, The Total Effect Brought Harmony The high school band under the di- rection of Mr. Bush had a successful and enjoyable year. Harmony came only after many hours of practice and patient learning. The band achieved new goals in the presentation of more challenging pieces of music for the pa- trons of the school. During the past summer the march- ing band spent many hours of sole- wearing marching practice in prepara- tion for appearances at Mentone, Ak- ron, Warsaw, North Webster, Albion, Muncie, and Indianapolis. The march- ers also paraded last winter in Warsaw to open the Christmas Season. Special half-time entertainment was presented by the band at home basket- ball games during the year. A special feature enjoyed by the fans was the an- nual performance of the young twirlers who were instructed by drum-majorette Connie Smythe. 24

Pep And Stage Bands Supported Morale The student morale was boosted through the efforts of pep and stage bands. The pep band appeared at pep sessions, rallies, and celebrations during the basketball season. Home- coming activities were provided with background music by the stage band. In its second year of existence the stage band became an active organi- zation by holding regular practices and having apart in the band tour and spring concert. BAND (continued) C. Ellsworth.
