Huffman. matics, Spanish, social studies, and science by the Warsaw Times Union. One of the most coveted awards to be given to a Mentone High School senior is the Gold 1M' award. The recipient is selected each year by the student council and faculty of the high school. This year for the first Student Council Held time the award was made on the basis of a tie, with Sherry Bryan and Mike Whetstone being the win- ners. Sherry was presented with her trophy at a later date because of her absence at the ceremony. Impressive Installation The student council held an in- stallation of 1965-66 officers at the completion of its year's activities. After President Ryman had given the report of the council to the stu- dent body, an impressive ceremony was then presented for the installa- tion of each officer who held a light- ed candle and wore a mantle whose color was symbolic of h i s office. niors Hod Smoked Sizzling Steaks At Turkey Run The day following the senior excursion was another day to remember for Mike Hubartt. Mr. Joe Cerny, Vice-President in charge of sales, from Da-Lite Screen Cor- poration, came for Awards Day to honor Mike with a $1000 scholarship. This was the first scholarship given by Da-Lite Screen and Mike was the first choice. He was the highest ranking student in the class of 1965. Charcoaling process in progress! Awards Ceremony Climaxed Academic Year After much planning and wait- ing, the seniors loaded seventy steaks, nine cases of pop, and other supplies into two buses and left for Turkey Run State Park on May 10. Upon arrival some stu- dents rented bicycles and began strenuous exercise, while others began preparation for charcoaling the steaks for lunch. During the afternoon hiking, cycling, horse- back riding, and football were enjoyed by members and spon- sors of the class. Mr. Joe Cerny and M. Hubartt

The Annual Prom Was The 1963-64 prom was held in the Mentone gymnasium, which was beautifully decorated with lowered ceiling and false walls and featured an orchard scene. Apple trees in blossom, green grass, a patio, stars and a moon enhanced the scene for the setting of the queen Melissa Bechtol, and the king Lynn Parker. The Manchester College Band and a featured singer entertained the students and guests. 14
