Students Sponsored Teacher Appreciation And Mrs. Carter Days Mentone Grade and High School Faculty President Ryman Friday, May 1, was declared to be Teacher Appreciation Day by our student council president in a special program held in the gymnasium with all faculty and students in atten- dance. The president then introduc- ed Mr. Lester Davis, Warsaw Fresh- man High School Principal, as the main speaker of the morning. Mr. Davis, having been both a student and an educator, could look on both sides of a teacher-student situation and present a challenge for accepting re- sponsibilities as students andfaculty alike. One of the senior class sponsors, Mrs. Carter, was recognized by her class at a special Mrs. Carter Day ceremony, in honor of h e r retire- ment from the teaching profession after forty years of service. The event came as a total surprise to Mrs. Carter but not to Mr. Hurst and the entire class. A specially decorated cake and a gift certificate were presented to her by the class in appreciation for her work as the sponsor of the class of ' 65. The class was proud to have had Mrs. Carter as a sponsor. 7

It it were not for printed books and other educational materials, our learn- ing process would be greatly hindered. Books are the basic tools of our edu- cational process. These books must, however, be used and studied to be of value. The complexity of learning carried on within the building seems to have no effect on the beauty of nature, as can be seen especially in the serenity of the new fallen snow covering the school grounds. While Snow, Ice, And Bitter Cold Dominated Outside.
