A. 1 Librarian 2 Speech 1. 3 Yell leader 3 Student Council 3 Senior Play As our high school careers draw to a close, we, the class of 1956, like to think back over our school years, remembering the fortunate and un- fortunate things that happened. Of the twenty-nine members graduating, twen- ty-two have gone to Mentone all twelve years. We had our share of sponsors during school; Miss Herriman in our freshman year; Mrs. Dawson in our sophomore and junior years; and Mrs. Caldwell in our senior year. Selling magazines the sophomore year and cookies the junior year were money-making pro- jects that helped to finance our senior trip. The junior play, New Fires , held on April 15 and 16, was directed by Mrs. Dawson. The senior play, Mother is a Freshman , held on October 14 and 15, was directed by Mr. Kelley. We had two penny suppers and an auction and chili supper combined. During our senior year we had several car wash days which were a success. We enjoyed the evening of March 23 in Elkhart at the ice show as the guests of the juniors. Baccalaureate was held in the gym on Sun- day, May 13. Commencement was on Wednes- day, May 16. We left on the senior trip at neon May 6 by train from Mentone. After visiting Washington, D. C., New York City, and Niagara Falls, we arrived back at Mentone safe and sound on May 12.
