.X Sue Kausrud ,Cynthia Hill, and Janet Kadinger Little Olympic Queen, Cynthia Hill, reigned over Menomonie's Little Olympic Track and Golf Meet. Her attendants were Sue Kausrud and Janet Kadinger. The top honors in track and golf went to Eau Claire. The host team, Menomonie, placed seventh in the contest. Is he ove r'? LITTLE OLYMPICS Ready? Set! Go!

SECOND ROW: LaVerne Otto, Dennis Grimme, Gary Scho- field, Dale Pracht, Orland Larson, Jim Proudlock, Lee J ewett, Dave Rue. STANDING: Bob Young, Dave Oas, John Zilisch, Bob Johnson, Dick Johnson, Dave Sjuggerud, LaVerne Miller, Dave Duenkel. TRACK '59 MENOMUNIE CINDERMEN Coach 1-Ienjurn and Manager Bill King give the starting signal to Art Ahrens. The 1959 track season brought forth many firsts to be written down ST in our sports history. This was the first year the track team was placed f in Class A competition at the sectional and state meets. Another first was the running of the medley relay, consisting of two 220's, one 440, and an 880. This event was scheduled in all meets. Jim Proudlock ran the first 220, LaVerne Miller, the second 220, Gerald Buckley, the 440, and Bob Johnson the 880. The exceptional pole vaulter, Senior John Larabee, went through the season un- beaten. He qualified for the state meet in section competition. MJ-LS., as a team, placed third in the sectional meet. To continue building the running and jumping muscles of the returning trackmen v and to teach the underclassmen the funda- mentals, Coach Henjum prodded his men on. This was his first year coaching track for M.H.S. By the end of the season, the team had improved considerably from their first meet, Q2 Larabee up and over

Little Olympics' Queen Marjorie Braker along with her attendants Sue Kausrud and Gloria Lehman reigned over the annual Little Olympics which was climaxed by the pre- sentation of the championship trophies to Eau Claire in golf and Rice Lake in track. In the all day golf meet, Eau Claire topped a ten team field with a fine 314, while Menomonie finished fifth with a 365. No new records were set as thirteen teams participated in the afternoon track meet copped by Rice Lake with 37 team points. The top point getter for our 9th place Indians was John Larabee who tied for first in the pole vault with an 11' effort. They're off! bia- 19. Lf .
