The staff has spent much time working on the Maroon and have enjoyed doing it immensely. We sincerely hope that you will enjoy paging through it as much as we have enjoyed putting it together. ' The annual to us is new and different, and we feel sure that the finished product will provide the same experience for you. We have chosen the theme of Indians in connection with the Menominee Indians or our Redmen. These little Indians have been used in cartoon form to be illustrative in the different phases of school life and ac- tivities. Since annuals are supposedly memorybooks,we hope that the memories illustrated by the pictures and cartoons in this year-'s annual will be the best memories of your 1958-1959 school year. I wish to thank Miss St. John, our advisor, Mr. Taylor who assisted with the selling and advertising, the students on the staff, and the many other people who have helped diem, 9 The Maroon Staff to make this yearbook a success. H r N ' A - Ana! Success. i ' h Mr. Paquette and Mr. Smith - fishing at Shakey Lakes. i ' This year's closing marks thirty-two years of faithful service to education by Octave C. Paquette, director of Menominee High School bands. Mr. Paquette, or Boss, as his students call him, has batoned some of Upper Michigan's finest bands. Among many other accomplish- ments his bands have had first division ratings each year in the high school band competition. In 1934, Mr. Paquette composed Menominee High, a song which was accepted as the official school song. y Mr. Paquette has many interests outside of school. To keep himself occupied he spends his extra hours hunting and fishing. He enjoys all types of hunting, including deer, ducks, and rabbits. He likes to fish for trout, bass and also enjoys ice fishing in the winter. It is the concensus of opinion of Menominee High School students a.nd faculty that Mr. Paquette is one of the unsung blessings of Menorninee High and is very deserving of this dedication, Gabriel, blow that horn.
