7 P%eAicleH JOHN A. TOEWS, M.A., B.D. Church History Systematic Theology Mennonite History Acts No Other Foundation I. Cor. 3:11 The permanency of a structure, whether material or spiritual, is determined by its foundation. This is the great truth which Christ impresses on His hearers as He closes his “Sermon on the Mount.” The wise man built his house upon a solid foundation. The rising floods and the raging storms could not destroy it, “for it was founded upon a rock.” The permanency, stability, and continuing effectiveness of our Mennonite Brethren Church will be determined by our unwavering loyalty to the foundation “that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” The fierce winds of false doctrine (Eph. 4:14), the rising tides of sin and lawlessness (Matt. 24:12), and the organized forces of darkness (Eph. 6:12) will not prevail against the Church that remains true to Christ in faith and life — in doctrine and ethics. The Christians of Corinth were in danger of building their faith on the shifting sands of human authority and leadership. The Apostle Paul reminds them of the exclusiveness of this found¬ ation in the verse cited above. There is no other foundation, there is no other name (Acts 4.12), there is no other gospel (Gal. 1:9). The Bible College is dedicated in its total program of instruction and training to this found¬ ation. With the great hymn writer, Samuel J. Stone, we gladly and firmly confess: “Th Church’s one foundation, is Jesus Christ her Lord.” The sure foundation, however, is the Christ of the Scriptures, the Christ whom the Word of God reveals. To know this Christ, and then to make Him known, constitutes our chief task and responsibility. As our dear granduates and students leave the halls of our College for various fields of service at home and abroad, it is our earnest prayer that they may ever build on this one and only foundation, the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ, our Lord! J. A. Toews.

PETERS, Ph.D., Th.D, Systematic Theology General Epistles Life of Christ Biblical Theology Hermeneutics Expository Preaching Psychology Christian Ethics A wide horizon of experience and know¬ ledge are channeled to his students through his practical outlook and frequent, humour¬ ous illustrations. Besides many other duties, Dr. Peters still finds time for personal contact and fellowship with the students; and the meaning of Christian discipleship is vividly portrayed in his exemplary life. His tran mission of scriptural truths is facilitated by his profound Biblical insight.
