Maroon and Steel CLASS MOTTO. . . Tomorrow is what we make it. ji . CLASS HIS TCR? X 'wi In the year of 1951, we, a party of twenty-five adventurers packed our bags and started on our four-year journey through Memio-Union High School, Our first stop was the freshman room where we settled down to high school life. The selling of candy at the basketball games increased the amount of money we had brought with us from the eighth grade. Not until after the Halloween initiation did we become full fledged members of the high school. The class officers for the freshman year were Joe Griffith, Presidentg Sally Garrett, Vice- Presidentg Darlis Allison, Secretary: and Virginia Blaine, Treasurer. After moving over some roughspots in the freshman year, in 1952 we faced the second stop, this time the sophomore room. During this stay we selected our class colors, maroon and steel, and received our class hats. For our money-making project we sold Christmas cards. The following officers were chosen for our sophomore year: Marlin Peachey, Presidentg Sally Garrett, Vice-President: Betty Crownover, Secretaryg and Joan Hazlett, Treasurer. Again it was time to move on, we gathered together the knowledge gained in the freshman and sophomore years and entered the junior room in 1953. This year was a busy one. We sold Easter candy, put on a peanut drive, presented the play, One Too Many, all of which enabled us to give a J unior-Senior Prom at Birch Hill. The officers for our junior year were Sally Garrett, Presidentg Joan Hazlett, Vice-President: Betty Crownover, Secretary: and Nancy Yoder, Treasurer. In the autumn of 1954 the first thing we did was elect officers for our senior year. They were: Marlin Peachey, President, Mone Stewart, Vice-President: Joan Hazlett, Secretaryg and Betty Crownover, Treasurer. We staged a play, We Shook the Family Tree, and sold Christmas candy to help raise money for our trip to Washington, May 9, 10, and 11. The juniors gave us a wonderful farewell prom. Our Baccalaureate Service was held May 15, 1955, We presented our Class-Night Exercises May 17, 1955. On the evening of May 19, 1955, sixteen members of our class received diplomas which signified that we had successfully completed our four years of education in the Menno-Union High School. 99 , N57 yew t 5 - ,..
