Class Prophecy The year IS 1960 I am a reporter on the U S TIMES The other dayl mterviewedj J jellxson the great orator of present hzstory The subject of the 1nterv1ew was the Graduating Class of Menlo Hxgh ln 1950 It seems that the eleven members of the class have all been very successful Raymond Washburn became a travellng salesman of the Bayer Asptrln Co He met and marr1ed Mr Bayer s daughter and fell he1r to the whole company of which he IS now president Dorene Duffey IS the new Professor of Etiquette at Stephens College in M1ssour1 She has studxed in great colleges all over the world Vera Klaurens or rather fMrs Maurice Sloan, IS the proud mother of two sons who hold all the grade school track records 1n the U S Bob Beckrnan was an A 1 Navy man He hked It so much he re enlisted H IS now Captain of hxs sh1p He enjoys h1s l1fe of wme women and song very much Shlrley Ogler is an attractwe dance lnstructor for an Arthur Murray School nn Denver Because of clumsy pupxls her feet are an mch shorter as she has no toes anymore Lloyd Yoernan has become qurte wealthy He and h1s wife own and operate a furmture store and a telephone off1ce Llllxan Rexner, the friend to all, operates her Beauty Salon m the time 1n which she is not rearlng a family doing housework and helping others Lavxna McCorm1ck is a Rural Nurse in Connecticut She makes her daily rounds and then goes off at a rapld pace for a game of pxng pong wxth a neighbor boy Donme Stephens owns a thousand acre ranch m Colorado He uses It as a resort for friends from home He has a bar ln the house and he tends it hirnself Juanita Duffey 1s prominent xn the business cxrcles of Denver Hav1ng become a very successful executive she IB now v1ce president of Central Business College Bernetta Custer 18 a designer for a fum mn Chicago She got the job by her design of an evemng gown of Nylon plastxc It had buttons on the szde to change the color of the gown three ttmes After I received all thxs unformatlon I thanked Mr jellison hurrxed home and wrote the above article It would not recezve an award but I thought it was mterestmg Didn t you 'P 9 'P Reporter 9 . .. . , . . . .. 9 . . . - .. 9 . y - . . . . . . . . . 9 . . . . . .- . Class Hzstory 1950 Back ln 1938 on a br1ght sunny mornlng ln September a group of very excxted youngsters gathered ln the primary room of lvlenlo Consolidated School There were exghteen ln all Hazel Neal started us on the road of Readxng Rltln and Rxthmetlc Funny as xt may seem we have survwed the snowball fxghts roller skates standlng 1n the corner rubber bands and paper wads We mustn t forget the teachers e1ther In elementary school they were Hazel Neal Mary Lemons Dorls Moos Lola Og1er Ethel Harms Della Balley Erma Hoppas and Ardith McKenney Afternoon assemblles acquamted us wxth the stage and ln our fourth year a group dressed up as Darkles won f1rst pr1ze at an amateur program s1ng1ng Camptown Races started on the road to basketball fame We graduated from the e1ghth grade 1n 1946 The speech gwen at our commencement exerclses was entltled Stmck Your Neck Out That was our motto all through h1gh school li anythlng was done Our Freshman and Sophomore vears were under the 1eadersh1p of Frank Summerson and Arthur Cooper we had class partxes, semester tests and a lot of fun We had a new fr1enu ln class Shorty Durmg our Jumor year Myrtle Newbold was our sponsor We presented the play Who Kllled Aunt Carol1ne'P We chose a Dutch garden as our banquet theme and boys bu1lt a Dutch M111 Our Semor year we lost Lucy Lletz and gamed Lloyd Yoeman Our sponsor IS Hazel K1rchner We presented three one act plays m November We chose Ghost In The Belfry for the annual Semo Play Our last Journey down memory lane IS our sneak wh1ch ms to be taken after the school year 8 In grade school we had basketball teams, too, The boys won trophies and
