Local business profes- sionals have been committed to individual counseling of School of4Business Administration students through a student-business advising program. Increased emphasis upon internships in business, government, and labor has been initiated, and additional programs are under con- sideration. In fact this has been a year of close college- community cooperation whereby ioint proiects with local business organizations were commissioned and executed. A philosophy of ioint student-business learn- ing has replaced the older separatism of the academic and the professional. This has been the year of emancipation, the year of increased dialogue between the student and the busi- ness professional. May this opened channel of commu- nication and support be promoted in order that gradu- ates, present and future, be rewardedwith the benefits of an experienced education, successful employment at the professional level, and personal fulfillment toward life goals.

We hold these truths to be apparent: the Menlo School of Business Administration, through a combination of liberal education and professional business training, prepares young men and women for life and for a voca- tion, that this experience in higher education provides the graduate with an understanding of the political, social, economic, and technological character of the nation and the world, that this education is a continuing process, a way of life which, once acquired, lasts a life- Hme. We believe that these tenuous times not only affect bus- iness but stem from business practices in the market place where businessmen contribute to, or detract from, the ultimate worth and achievement of our society. Busi- ness encompasses the organization, the motivation, the risk-taking, and the direction of an economy and can, through its activities, fulfill or deny the true destiny of a nation. This we see as our challenge and our future. As an institution, the Menlo School of Business Adminis- tration has maintained a high standard of professional- ism among its faculty and has expected a professional- ism of its students. The increased participation by female students and the increasing internationalism in the student body have contributed to a new maturity of the school. Also the continuing development of the cur- riculum to encompass the new directions and new needs both of business and the individual has maintained a standard comparable to many graduate programs.
