THE FABULOUS 50'S This year's May Day was beautifully decorated in 50's style. The 3rd grade classes did a routine to the song Two Girls for Every Boy. Tonya Daugherty and Jason Brown were the Keepers of the Royal Seals. On May 6, 198S, the May Day cast took a trip back in time to the 1950's. The gymna- sium was decorated in 50's tradition with pink, black, and white as the colors. Emphasis was placed on 50's music and dress. Some of the grade school classes did routines to 50's songs, using dances from the 50's. Their costumes consisted of poodle skirts, rolled-up jeans, and white tee-shirts. Their hair was slicked back or in ponytails. Even the girls in the Royal Court dressed in style with tea-length dresses. Alma Jo Swartz sang Daddy's Hands, and Charlotte Sons sang The Only Real Peace. The royal Court members were as follows: Queen of the May was Jami Trimble; King of the May was Guido Finger; the Prince and Princess of Apple Blossom Time, Winfred Moore and Jeannine Craft; the Marquis and Marquesa of the Roses, Sam and Garietta Williams; the Count and Countess of Lilac Time, Will Mayer and Terri Hays; the Crown Bearers, David Botts and Stephanie Cornett; the Sceptre Bearer for the King, Mark Nickell and the Bouquet Bearer for the Queen, Charlotte Sons; Gift Bearers, Greg Brown and Jenifer Back; and the Keepers of the Royal Seals, Jason Brown and Tonya Daugherty. Even the Grand Marchers were dressed in 50's attire. Charlotte Sons sang her rendition of The Only Real Peace. 2 May Day
