Helicopter ride at the festival Scenic aerial view of downtown Frenchburg This year saw the first annual Menifee Mountain Memories Festival. Maybe next year it will be called the second annual Menifee Mountain Memories Festival. Eventually annuals will be dropped and tradition will take over. This first Mountain Memories was a big success. It captured the downhome feelings all Ken- tucky has for history and friends. Through the Menifee Mountain Memories Festival it is hoped to preserve the antique and home crafts that are and always will be considered pure Kentucky. The Menifee Mountain Memories Festival began Friday, May 6, with the crowning of the King and Queen of the May Day. Gary Shrout also held a bass tournament. There were many crafts and food booths. Mike Helton and his band were in charge of the live entertainment. The festival didn't end there. Saturday, May 7, there was a parade and an antique car show, among many other things. There were crafts and food booths that brought much attention, such as a life-sized replica of a moonshine still and jars of sorghum and moonshine jelly. Sunday finished off the festival with a down home, old-fashioned Brush Arbor meeting and Gospel sing. Menifee County Boy Scouts Mtn. Mem. Festival,
