Mr. Powers Retires Mr. Powers, a teacher at Menifee County High School, retired last year after 30 years of teaching. It all started for Mr. Powers in 1948 after he graduated from the University of Kentucky with a major in Vocational Agriculture. He started teaching at the Magoffin County High School, where he taught for ten years. After that he came to Menifee County where he taught Vocational Agricul- ture for 20 years. Mr. Powers is married and has two sons. His hobby is raising different kinds of birds. Now that he has re- tired, he says he plans to rest and take it easy. Mr. Ratliff Becomes Superintendent On July 13, Richard Ratliff became Superintendent of the Menifee County Schools. Several friends had a surprise party to congratulate him on his promotion.
