Dedication Dear Mr. Walters, It is with deep and sincere appreciation that we, the class of 1961, dedicate our annual, the Wildcat” to you. We feel that the guidance you have given us in the past two years will help us toward a better and more prosperous life. So, perhaps, by dedicating this, our yearbook, to you, we can repay you in some small way for the devotion and personal interest you have given us all. i V % • i V!V «• %A 4 • i . • 0 •■ • • • • •%• • • • I • •«• • ( • 1 • M« vAN f « % . . 0 - . 0 • • y i . x • 4 % i • «■ V' • I • i I I . % I I I w $ 0 •• fit •V.Ylil V vw •• •i• •• ••• • r • i • a i I I «'• r i « ■ • i . % '■- v j %a . i % f | l % r « « « %tf4 ' % §4 N, | 9 f | I i %. % • | « j •' N % a • %' % i «i 4 %« • . • % • i % • • V'f ' V« • a “- • • -X---— - • I •- • I 9V% (t«v I l'A • j 0 -• • • •• « • i • • • • • « i Wn'% • ' 9 k i W% i% i 9 % t ; 1V- Lv .v. v.'.vry. .v. v. 1K • a A- jrr. vj- r M1 v v o v - ' ! 4 % ! %' t 0 ■ % • • •. • • • • . ••.% : • • • • • ••■ • •[• • ■ • • ; % • • • i • • «• • i • • ■ • I • f« • ( • } • «•••!• • •« l •• ■ i • •«• • i • j • 0i« ■ •• • • • • . The Menifee Co. High School is gaily decorated and the party is about to start. The first guests to arrive are Wallace Stiltner, the music instructor, Vickie Bates, the typing teacher, and Louise Shepherd, the History professor at Menifee Co. School. As the party begins Vernon Johnson, the well-known disc-jockey for WFBG station, starts the entertainment with a trio known as the Violets, Faye Rawlins, Joan Conway, and Judy Poynter. At the end of the song we were served refreshments by Joyce Stamper, Kathryn Berry, Betty Ingram and Zoia Brown. The four are working as secretaries. The walls of the dining room are decorated with portraits drawn by Carol Jones and Rachel Kendrick. They are now Art Instructors at Berea College. New arrivals at the party are Mrs. Wayne Bowlin, formerly Mildred Cecil and the former JoAnn Brewer, now Mrs. Woody Isaac. The two couples are now living in California working in a big shoe store. We were introduced to. the new coach of Menifee County High and to our surprise Frankie Allen rose and took a bow. In one section of the room a conversation was being held by a small group of guests. One was Carol Caudel, a Home Economics teacher at Eastern State College, another was a girl who we recognized as Betty Craft, now one of the assistants to the City Council in Frenchburg. Four neat looking women passed the hall with nurse’s uniforms. They were recog- nized as Carol Botts, Rita Stull, Betty Fultz, and Phyllis Buchanan, who are working in the Frenchburg Hospital. Kay Rose, Ora Jean Smith and Wanda Walton have just flown in from New York. They have come back to Kentucky to be married in two weeks and then they will return to New York with their husbands and make their homes there. Meanwhile all the guests began applauding as a line of other guests had just arrived. They were Larry Crouch and James Lawson, who are two of the respectable lawyers of Frenchburg. Hubert Welch, Ronnie Lacy, Winfred Sorrell, and Ottis Landrum were among them with their boxing gloves on. They must have forgotten to remove them after boxing practice earlier in the evening. We were very sorry that two of our most excellent graduates, L Owell Haney and Ernest Ingram, could not possibly be here because of the fact they are serving in the U. S. Army. After we were all seated at the table, the two chefs, Harold Smith and Olan Stiltner served us. They are the best-known cooks in the entire county. We were very glad that Laveda Sons and Donna Runyan could take time out from their Beauty Shop in Camargo to be at our party. Barbara Clark, Enda Landrum, and Stella'Pugh attended the party. They seemed to have changed in a few ways. It might be due to the fact that they are majoring in Physics at Morehead State College. As the popular Priscilla Hall sang the closing song, '‘Farewell to Thee we think back of all our classmates and the wonderful school days we attended in the Menifee Co. High School. We wish we could relive those days but since we can’t we send our hearts out to those who have the opportunities to attend the grand-old Menifee Co. High School.
