We only know that it is true a11d that we have felt it very keenly in the loss of one upon whom we had all eome to depe11d for leadership. Albert 's popularity inereased eaeh year as he added lll0I'C friends to tl1e already large number a11d made warmer friends of those he had. He won the admiration of the teams by the loyal support he brought. them from the sideli11es. Those who have heard him lead the eheering know that he had the entire student body with him. However his enthusiasm a11d interests were not li111ited to athleties, and every one rejoieed with him when he was awarded first, plaee in the deelamatory eontest during his Sophomore year. It was only natural illld appropriate that his elassmates should show their appreeiation of his merit by eonferring upon him the honor of holding the highest oftiee in the elass. lt was no exaggeration, but only an expression of the general sentiment, when people said, as so ma11y did, that we had lost lhe most popular boy in sehool. Ile was liked and admired by his elass- mates, his fellow students, the lll0lllil0l'S of the faeulty, a11d by all the people of Mendota. Pauline Leifeit was an energetic girl, ambi- tious beyond her strength. We miss this faithful student among her elass- mates. She was the type of girl who eould always be eounted upon to do the best that she was able illld that best, i11 her ease was far above the average. She was of a quiet u11assu1ning disposition, loyal to her friends and to her elass. Our sineere sympathy goes out to those who held her dearest and we trust that the splendid example set by this modest girl may be emulated by others of our IIlClllb0l'S as time passes. Point E. LELAND CHASE Mendota Township High School will never know the loss it suffered thru the death of the Freshman lad with da11eing brown eyes who entered i11to his High Sehool work with sueh enthusiasm. Leland Chase undoubtedly would have been as popular in this larger eirele of sehoolmates as he had always been among his classmates in the smaller eirele at Blackstone.
