HE 8TEER8 THE HELM GARY W. MILLS, Superintendent The Mendon-Union Pirates have sailed into another port - the end of a school year and a decade. I have been your captain for only a year, but have thoroughly enjoyed piloting such a fine crew. We leave behind memories of rough waters, calm winds, and treasures of friendship. Our cargo has always been the minds of young Americans who take with them depths of knowledge and valuable experiences. Some of us will want to dock our ship here and settle down; while others will sail on to a new port, or see what lies over the horizon. Whatever, this ship has carried you far, taken you on a journey of growing up -a tour you can never repeat. She has mothered you, encouraged you, and opened your hearts and minds to learning. When time fades these memories, and it is difficult to recall a name or face, open your ship's log, the 1970 CLIPPER, and recapture the memories of Mendon-Union School days. The Pirate squad's forte was team balance. The Bucs averaged more than 82 points per game. With the excellent balance. Mr. Krinn's crew featured a fast-breaking, explosive offense. Jon Shindollar and Scott Garwick added extra scoring punch. Controlling the backboards and starting the speedy attack were Kevin Bell, Rick Williams, Dave Stoner and Bill Fent. Greg Maurer and Dennis Clay contributed with cool-headed playmaking.
