They were seeing this great institution of learning for the first time. We three were: Ardyth Drake, Harriet Krugh and John Griggs. We soon found our places and many others joined us. By the time we entered our Freshman year, the class had reached a total of twenty six members. The highlight of our Freshman year was that frightening initiation. Our hopes of ever getting out of the Freshman year seemed very dark and dismal. We were looked down on by our upper-classmen as the green freshman . The officers for the Freshman year were: President-------------Glen Fox Vice President----Dorothy Hays Secretary----------------Irene Boyer Treasurer------------Edna Book We emerged from our Freshman year full of new hopes and a much better outlook for the coming year. We prided ourselves on being a little better than those green freshman ' and we were ready to become a little more serious minded. Officers elected were: President--------Dick Tingley Vice President-----John Griggs Secretary----------Irene Boyer Treasurer-----------------Jean Crites Sigh! Sigh! Here we are Juniors, already. What a year we did have. We received our class rings the first of the year. On April 29, we began to show what talent we had by presenting our Class Play, Sun-bonnet Jane, of Sycamore Lane which was a great hit. We topped the Junior year off by entertaining the Senior class with the customary banquet which was held in the auditorium. Officers this year were: President---------Dorothy Hays Vice President------Edna Book Secretary---------------Ardyth Drake Treasurer-----------------Jean Crites This, Our last year has been best of all. There are seventeen members in our graduating class. We are now prepared to go out into this world and see what use we can make of the learning we have acquired in these twelve long and happy years. We are rather reluctant to leave our old school but time marches on and so must we. Officers this year: President-----------------Doyt Faurot Vice President-----John Griggs Secretary-------Eileen Hayman Treasurer---------------Ardyth Drake 12 CLASS PROPHECY Fasten your safety belts, please. We are about ready to shove off on a tour of the world to visit the graduates of 19 0-41. As soon as the motors are warmed up , we will be ready for our first flight on the flag ship Metier, of the Meudon Air Lines. This flight will take us to the Hawaiian Islands, where we find Robert Clay hard at work a3 a government Radio operator. OhI By the wayl While the plane is being serviced for the next leg of the journey, we can pay Orby Putman a visit. He owns a large planta— tion down there, and has his eye on several more, as well as a classy little Spanish number. Our next flight will be across the ocean to the Philippines. If we arrange our time correctly, we will get a chance to see Doyt Faurot. He is flying one of the big transports now running back and forth from the states. After refueling there, we hope to be able to get into England to see Darrell Fisher. He is heed mechanic in one of the big plane factories. And now, its back to the states. Our first stop will be Wisconsin, where we find Richard Ting-ley as sole owner of a large and prosperous dairy. While in Chicago, we visited with Dorotha, the beautiful singer at the Trianon. Oh! Yes! We forgot to mention, that while going over the Sahara Desert we passed over Jake Griggs' combination residence and harem. You see Jake, is a big shiek and leader among the desert people. His favorite wife is Eileen Hayraan, and some of the other members of his harem are Irene Truesdale and Ardyth Drake. Harriet Lou Krugh is his favorite dancer, and Jean Crltes is the camel keeper. But, we must hurry on and visit Modern Tripoli, the No-man3-land, with Edna Book as Mayor. The Chlef-of-Police is Irene Boyer, and members of the force include Ruth Wheeler, Anna Mae Hole, Anna Schwarck and Betty Springer. 13 CLASS WILL Irene Boyer: Will my long finger nails to Lois Coffman Edna Book: Will my Chemistry to Mr. Flshbaugh vho developed it Dick Tingley: Will my curls to Max Ellis Harriet Krugh: Will my ability to have and to hold to Martha Jane Skinner Arayth Drake: Will my will power to Johnny Maurer Orby Putman: Will my long shots in basket ball to Robert Jackson Anna Mae Hole: Will my good disposition, my charm- ing ways and pleasing smile to Don Spicer Anna Eileen Schwarck: Will my typing ability to some- one vho needs it (Mary Snavely) Jack Grigg3: Will anything but my green overcoat and my blonde Betty Springer: Will my interest in a certain blonde to no one Ruth Wheeler: Will my bashfulness to Ruth Ann Dutton Doyt Faurot: Will my conversational ability to Jack Holtzapple Eileen Hayman: Will my ability to have a good time to anyone vho wishes it • Irene Truesdale: Will my interest in a blonde haired boy to anyone vho thinks she deserves it Darrell Fisher: Will my interest in girls to anyone not having enough sense to keep away from them Jean Crltes: Will anything except Jake to anyone Robert Clay: Will my romantic ways to some up and coming Romeo Dorotha Hays: Will my ability to play a violin to Rub- lnoff. 14 SC HOOL JUNIOR CLASS Top Row: R. We are here and going strong in spite of the fact that some of our much loved classmates have left us. Among our many completed activities we have accomplished the presentation of Pigtails, our first class play of the year. Also we have attempted the sale of pop at the basketball games here. In the future we have another class play and the customary Junior, Senior Reception. And, oh yes, because of a seemingly extremely busy year, we have had one class party, February twenty-fifth. 16 SOPH, CLASS Top Row: M. Fishbaugh, Reporter; R. Hays, D. The first stop of the year was at Edgevater Park for a skating party. Everyone had a good time and we took off again without any mishaps (except a few falls). Although we had to stop a couple of times for new passengers and a couple had to ball out for a different school, the year ran fairly smooth. We hope that not to many of our 17 passengers will get into a crack-up and leave us minus a few. 18 JR. HIGH Top Row: J. Rickard, C. Boroff, C. Hole, Sec. J. Briggs, E. Worrell, N. Baltzell, H. We were not quite sure how we would like having 30 many teachers, but it was not long until we thought that it was entirely all right. 8 th. Twenty nine, eighth graders, a bit more sophisticated than we were last year, entered school on a sunshiny day in September to start our second year upstairs. This year we have ardently tried to prepare ourselves for high school. 19 1. Miss Mendon 2. Romeoes 3 Clay Brothers 4. Shakespeare's Brothers 5. Just Girls 6. Smiles 7. Varsity Volley Ball Team 8. This year we have tried to avoid repetition by using more illustrations and a better variety in the contents of our paper. Our paper sold for three cents a copy. At the beginning of the year we chose Edna Book, Editor, and Ruth Ann Dutton as her assistant. Dortha Hays, business mgr., Anna Schwarck girl's sports, Jean Crites, snoopy column, Richard Spicer, F. The requirements for eligibility and maintaining membership were that each girl that joined must have an average of 80 per cent and no failing grades on her report card. We started the year with a bang-up good time at a shindig consisting of a banquet, games, speeches, and all the trimmings. Also, at the beginning of the year we took a hike. Mrs. Garwlck, and Mrs. Brants were our chaperones. We had a grand time. The rest of our time has been consumed with sponsoring worthwhile projects such as, a basketball supper, beauty queen election and a stunt for chapel. Now at the end of the year we feel that we really have accomplished something and are very grateful to our advisor, Mrs. Garwlck. 24 F.FA. Top Row: D. Albright, M. Winan3, K. Briggs, R. High, D. For this we had to learn to sing one song a capella. Altogether we learned five new songs for this occasion. Our first appearance was at a Thanksgiving Program held in the auditorium. We also sang at The Farmers' Institute in a Stephen Collins Foster Musical. We again appeared at P. T. A. When we put on the night's program.
