Senior Class History In 1935 thirty bright-eyed pupils, commonly known as freshmen, enrolled in Mention High School. They chose the following officers: President ..... --..--- Lewis Fox Treasurer ....--,.,,, Lewis Fox Vice-President --- Elaine Griggs Secretary ....... Claude Brown Adviser .......... Miss Cummins Our only social venture of the year was our initiation, at which gf were the guests of honor, as Well as the victims, of the Senior ass. Gur Sophomore officers were: President ......... Mary Crider Secretary ....... Claude Brown Vice-President ...... Lewis Fox Treasurer ..... Aletha Jean Coil Adviser .............. Mr. Smith Our sophomore year found us with Lewis Fox, Norman Car- penter, Clayton Allen, Claude Brown, W'arren Dotson, Mgr., playing basketball, while Vivian Krogman, Lenore Roller, and Ruth Deniston represented the girls in basketball. Joe, Norm, and Lewis also played baseball their second year. NVayne Mennctly, Donna Spicer, Elaine Griggs, Vivian Krog- man, and Mary Crider displayed their musical ability by joining the orchestra. In September, '38 we were full pledged third-termers with the following officers: President ........ Elaine Griggs Secretary ..... Vivian Krogman Vice-President - Wayne Kennedy Treasurer ....... Hazel Burnett Adviser .............. Mr. Smith Our class was again well represented in the various activities, having four basketball players and a manager. Two players on the girls' team, three baseball players, and five orchestra members. Our Junior-Senior reception, held at the Barr Hotel in Lima, and the class play Meet Uncle Sallyn were the main high-lights of the year. ln the last lap of the race nineteen thirty-niners trekked out .to reach their goal. The Senior offices were capably filled as follows: President ..... WVayne Kennedy Secretary .,..... Claude Brown Vice-President ..... Carl Miller Treasurer .......... Lewis FOX Adviser .............. Mr. Smith Once again we were highly represented in a number of activities. Norman Carpenter and Lewis Fox will leave the basketball and baseball teams. Elaine Griggs, WVayne Kennedy, Aletha Jean Coil, Vivian Krogrnna, Carl Miller, and Mary Crider will leave the orchestra. Our class play Spring Fever was a success. WVe were nicely entertained by the junior class at the Junior-Senior reception. Upon taking our leave, we, the class of '39, thank the faculty and our schoolmates for many pleasant memories. -Mary Crider
