Student Senate Every year, the Student Senate is criticized for inactivity. This year, the representatives and class officers reversed that image. Towards the end of the first semester, Mendel seniors organized efforts to overcome student apathy. Although the movement died out after Christmas vacation, the initiative was made. The Student Lounge opened and a few other reforms were made. As usual, the Senate did a great iob in organizing student activi- ties like the proms and Homecoming. Underclassmen played an important role in the Senate this year. The iuniors, for example, decided to form a Grievance Committee.
