Theology To produce academically bright and physi- cally sound students is not the main goal of Mendel's curriculum. Mendel is a Catho- lic school, dedicated to the development of the spirit as well as the mind and body. By probing into such matters as morality, love, and God, Mendel's Theology Department helps in the development of true Christian men. ln addition to class instruction, the department also conducts Mass and retreat programs. English Since most of Mendel's students are col- lege-bound, the English Department tries to give the student the necessary tools for effective communication. These tools include basic grammar, writing techniques, and vocabulary. Emphasis is on practical use of these devices through essays and term papers. Students also become famil- iar with all types of literature. Reading skills are also improved by the speed read- ing program. Mr. Tim Ellis Mr. Richard S.
