Awards MendeI's reputation as a quality educa- tional institution has always been boosted by individual performances in academics and athletics. Mendel's football team had one player named to All-State and several players were chosen for All-Catholic hon- ors. In academics, over twenty Mendel stu- dents were named Illinois State Scholars. Mendel also placed semi-finalists in the National Merit and the National Achieve- ment competition.
