ll2 Band Every morning before school, Mendel's flute tooters and horn blowers go through their paces. For years Mendel's Band has been nationally known for its quality. Besides playing at the football games, the band also gave con- certs in the fall and spring. ln order to meet the high costs of equipping a band, the Mendel Music Association sponsored a number of fund-raising activities throughout the year. In the first semester, the association held a Las Vegas Night in the Mendel cafeteria. Later in the year, the group held a St. Valentine's Day Dance. ,eww-1M.,..,.,.., rmfemu-w-nv--s. f-www FIRST ROW - Aaron Tyler, LeFrance Barber, Bernard Tafoya, David Houlihan, Maylin Mosley, Tony Johnson, Lucius Robinson, Conrad Carpenter, Bill Marshall ROW - Mark Holan, Mel Piper, Derek Polk, Nick Sowa, Glen Coffee, William Lawson, Terry Butler, Jeff Harmon, Marc Cartwright, Juan Solorio, Don Ashley, Marty ski. Their fine performance reflects the time and effort that they put into baton-twirling. Recent additions to the group's equip- ment were flaming batons and flagged batons. Using these devices, the Mende- Iettes put on an impressive show. After the football season, the group twirls batons at band concerts throughout the rest of the year.
