Body Building Club Mendel is dedicated to the development of a sound body as well as a sound mind. During the lunch hour and after school, the members of the body-building club flex their muscles under the careful supervision of Mr. Conway. Debate Team With Coach Jim Lovett guiding the team, Mendel fielded a championship debate team. The team not only captured honors in the Chicago Catholic Forensics League but they also won several national titles. ln national competition Mendel placed qualifiers in forensics and debate. Television Club Although every Mendel student watches television, a few actu- ally make television programs. These members of the Television Club learn all the techniques of communication from Father John Kret, the club's moderator. Whenever a teacher wants a program taped for classroom view- ing or whenever a coach needs films of his team, the Television Club comes through. Using Mendel's ultra-modern video-tape sys- tem, the club also is involved in creative television programs. 7 ' 'Y .. . edge.. uil f- S ig. Joe Sobczyk discusses the use of the video-tape equipment while Father Kret and other members of the club keep close watch on the screen.
