Provincial Very Rev. Francis Cavanaugh, OSA. Father Cavanaugh served Mendel High School as its Principal during the years 1956 through 1959. At present he is the Provincial of the Midwest Province of the Augustinian Or- der, but even in the midst of his numerous ac- tivities he retains a deep interest in the school he directed a few years ago. . Prior Very Rev. john L. Seary, OSA. The Superior of the Religious com- munity of Augustinians here at Mendel is a man who deserves the title Mr. Mendelu. Father john Scary, the found- ing Principal of the school in 1951, has alone done more than any other one man. Even at present he still finds time to work in the school, heading the re- ligion department, teaching, serving as advisor in his position as Vice-Principal, and moderating the Mendel Alumni As- sociation.

Rev. Daniel J. Hartigan, O.S.A. When Mendel opened its doors for the first time in September of 1950, Father Daniel Hartigan was a member of its faculty. For ten years he helped develop the school into a respected institution of learning of the Augustinian Order. Father was transferred from Mendel in 1961. He took a place on the faculty of Tolentine College, but worked at the same time to complete his thesis for a Doctoral degree in Education from Loyola University. During this absence from Mendel, Father was also appointed Superintendent of the Augus- tinian Secondary Schools in the Midwest, a position he still holds. Two years ago he returned to the school he had helped to found as its well-qualified Principal.
