CLASSES Appearing with Father Rector are the top ranking Mendelmen as of the first semester standings. Seniors John Donohue, Joseph Gaiewski and Jean Klawitter. Juniors: Robert Normant, Robert Frank and Robert Staib. Sophomores Ken Bacon, John Meier and Ronald Sciepko. Freshmen: Charles Scott, Jon Kapecki and William Keating. All of our 1440 students are graded according to the Honor Point system. Scholastic grades and student rank, along with many minute details indicating student achievement, are exactly computed by IBM calculations. The present curriculum of studies at Mendel has been designed in accordance with the high standards of Augustinian education and has the full approval of the State of Illinois and North Central Association. A boy who meets our standards and requisites for graduation is sufficiently qualified to enter any university or college. To meet the changing needs of students, Father Verstynen, Dean of Studies, is setting up an Honors Course for next year. This course will be aimed at challenging the more intellectually gifted boy. Father Verstynen's unique effort is prompted by the expressed desire of leading educators throughout the country to identify those students who give excep- tional promise in the fields of science and engineering. ln this way, Mendel Catholic will be serving the needs of our community and our country.
