Father Cavanaugh, in succeeding Father Seary, is keenly aware of the hopes and plans which Mendel's founder had for our school. Furthermore, he brings to the office of rector those qualifications necessary to guide Mendel in its second phase of development. After receiving his Bachelor of Arts from Villanova University, Father Cavanaugh pursued further studies at the Gregorian University, Rome, and at Catholic University, Washington, D.C. He was awarded a Bachelor of Science in Education by Villanova and took graduate studies at Tulsa University. Father Cavanaugh taught at Villanova University, 1937, before his assignment to the Midwest Province on the faculty of Cascia Hall, Tulsa. He was appointed vice-rector at Cascia in 1940. From 1952 until his coming to Mendel, Father was vice-rector of St. Rita High, Chicago. 20
