Ile la Salle This was a clay-the opening of league play for the Monarchs! lt also marked the last appearance of Angel Solis, who started things humming in the second-halt by recovering a Meteor fumble. Aurelio, on a sensational 82 yard run, scored for Mendel, The Monarchs won with the help of Mc- Carthy, Post, Mantoan, and Sabal, 33-0. 'Ti St. Catherine Mendel traveled to Racine, Wiscon- sin, to engage St. Catherine. The Monarchs seemed strong, but came a- part at the seams when St. Catherine started an air attack. The Monarchs gained much experi- ence, olthough they lost l8-13.

llll. Carmel In the first half it looked like Mendel could make it two in a row over Carmel, but the Caravan roared back to score two quick TD's which took the steam out of the Monarchs. Another score gave Mt. Carmel a 19-7 victory. Fenwick The Monarchs received their second setback in three starts of league competi- tion, The first sign of trouble came when the Friars left half-back found a hole and streaked 33 yards to score. In the second- half, Kantor threw 30 yards to Bohan for a touchdown, but the Friars came right back to score three more touchdowns and wrap up the game for Fenwick, 26-6.
