The following program was given: Presentation of the Colors, Boy Scouts of Troop No. 73. Pledge to the Flag, led by' Rev. Tom S. Moore, pastor of the First Christian church. America the Beautiful, audience. Scripture reading, Rev. Warren D. Gol- den, pastor of the First Methodist church. Message, Carlton Hasicy, superintendent of Mena schools, Processional, Honor society. Introductory speech, Wiibur Roark, president of Honor society. Scholarship, Rita Lewis. Leadership, Fred Blohm. Character, A. J. Lawrence. Service, Gwenith Williams. Give Us This Day CSoloJ, Laura Beth Barton. Presentation of candidates, T, L. Merritt, principal of Mena High school. Administering of Pledge, Rev. Golden. Candle Lighting service, inductees. Benediction, Rev. Moore. Recessional, Honor society. The following students were inducted as members of the Honor society. These stu- dents must have an average of B-plus in their grades, and each is rated bn his lead- ership, citizenship, and service. Harriet Lindsey SENIOR OF THE MONTH Here we have another important figure on the Mena High campus. We need not introduce him. -You immediately recognize the, broad smile -of Jerry Masters. Jerry was born October 22, 1939. He is the oldest of five children .and not very big at phat. Jerry attended Central school six years. After ,finishing the sixth grade, he entered Junior A High school and completed the eighth this making him ready for our Mena High. Since entering Mena High school Jerry has been a very popular boy. I believe most of the girls go for Crip, too. His wonderful disposition bag made him an outstanding figure in our school. Jerry has been a member of the Student council for 'four years, the fourth year of which he served as parliamentarian. He alsohaisheenametnberoftlzelleareat football squad two years, the must popular boy his senior year, and vici president 1 the Senior class. Jerry doesn't have qny tavorii pastime. However, night time passes muc the faster, so I hear. After all is done and said we, the Beal cat staff, want Jerry Masters to feel thi he is liked by all and that we are might happy to have him in our school. lj!
