The duration of growth at MUS may be only a short sojourn relative to the life of the individual, but it forms the future of all who experience it. The student derives the joys of friendship, the satisfaction of commitment, and the rewards of hard work. He learns that future growth is possible only by receptivity to learning. Responsibility encumbers the student to determine what kind of a person he will be. The tragedy of a student at MUS is not that he might not achieve, but that he might never confront, challenge and encounter himself and the forces that shape him. 17
